Sanctuary of Fatima

As I told you in an older post, I am Portuguese. So as many other country fellows , I am catholic, of course!
But I am not a fanatical one, far from that: I get perfectly well with people of other beliefs and non-believers.
I was taught that a relationship with other human being must be based on respect: respect of other's beliefs and principles. That's what I do and I expect it to be mutual.
That said, the photo on this post was taken at the Santuary of Our Lady of Fatima, in Fatima, Portugal.
The first time I set foot on Fatima I was 41 years old and strange enough, I've been going there every year since then. Short stays: two or three days each time, maximum.
Fatima is the place where I recharge my batteries (so to say). Besides, I am very keen on sacred art and I discovered it is a good place to learn a little more about the subject. And buy quite a few books, too.
Apart of the Santuary, there are museums and several exhibitions worthwhile visiting.
Most of all, Fatima is a place of peace.
And there is nothing better than having peace within us and hope that one day, there will be peace all over the World.
Santuário de Fátima
Tal como mencionei num post mais antigo, eu sou Portuguesa. Logo, tal como muitos outros concidadãos, sou católica, claro!
Mas não sou fanática, longe disso: dou-me perfeitamente com pessoas de outras religiões e ateus.
A mim ensinaram-me que o relacionamento com outro ser humano deve ser baseado no respeito: respeito das crenças e dos princípios do outro. É o que faço e espero que isso seja mútuo.
Dito isto, a foto deste post foi tirada no Santuário de Nossa Senhora de Fátima, em Fátima, Portugal.
A primeira vez que pisei o chão de Fátima tinha 41 anos e por muito estranho que possa parecer, tenho voltado lá todos os anos desde essa altura. Estadas curtas: dois ou três dias no máximo.
Fátima é o lugar onde recarrego as minhas baterias (por assim dizer). Para além disso, gosto de arte sacra e descobri que é um bom lugar para aprender um pouco mais sobre o assunto. E comprar alguns livros, também.
Para além do Santuário, em Fátima existem museus e exposições que valem realmente a pena visitar.
Acima de tudo, Fatima é um local de paz.
E não há nada melhor do que sentir paz dentro de nós e desejar que um dia, exista paz em todo o Mundo.
