Sometimes is difficult to understand what we are seeing.
We look, take a good look again and stop for a second or two to think and observe. Most of the times the question still remains in our minds: what is that doing here? What does it mean? Has it a meaning?
I believe this kind of thought does not happen only to me. A dear friend of mine always tells me: Never mind, this is Art! But I consider that art always has a meaning, a purpose... Capture the artist's thought is the real key to one's questions.
The very first time I saw the giraffe at Jardins D'Àgua at Parque das Nações in Lisbon I immediately loved it.
After a second I realized that I felt amused with the peculiar image of a sculpure of an enormous giraffe standing at the middle of a public garden looking at a mirror.
This is a sculpture in resin, a work made by the Portuguese artist, Fernanda Fragateiro.
After all, my friend is right: never mind what it means, it's Art!

Uma girafa no Parque das Nações
Às vezes é difícil compreender o que estamos a ver.
Olhamos, olhamos de novo, paramos um segundo ou dois para pensar e observar. A maioria das vezes, a questão permanece no nosso espiríto: o que é que aquilo está a fazer aqui? O que significa? Terá algum significado?
Acredito que este género de pensamento não deverá suceder apenas comigo. Um grande amigo meu diz-me sempre: não te importes com isso, isto é Arte! Mas eu considero que a arte tem sempre um significado, um propósito... Capturar o pensamento do artista é a verdadeira chave para as nossas questões.
A primeira vez que eu vi a girafa nos Jardins D'Àgua no Parque das Nações em Lisboa, imediatamente gostei.
Após um segundo, apercebi-me que me sentia divertida com a imagem peculiar de uma enorme girafa localizada no meio de um jardim público a olhar para um espelho.
Esta é uma escultura feita em resina, um trabalho realizado pela artista Portuguesa Fernanda Fragateiro.
Afinal, o meu amigo tem razão: não interessa o que significa, é Arte!
